Department: Finished Goods

Report to: Shift Leader / Production Manager

Times of work: 06:15am – 14:15pm and 14:00pm – 10:00pm

Grade: 3

The Role:

  • Operate the designated production section according to plan, and at the optimum efficiency, whilst ensuring specified standards of food safety, quality and legality and Health & Safety are kept.
  • Have a good working knowledge of all roles in more than one production department.
  • Comply with Company policies to ensure the quality, safety and legality of products are maintained at all times.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations to provide a safe working environment.
    Comply with Company personal hygiene policies at all times.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read the production plan and ensure planned sequence is followed.
  • Set up and run the section.
  • Diagnose and resolve operating problems as and when necessary.
  • Read and understand Internal Specifications, and communicate to the department ensuring that the product is manufactured to internal specification at all times.
  • Ensure production line / area operates to Health and Safety and Food Safety legislation at all times by completing all start-up and quality check lists, ensuring the safety of employees and visitors at all times.
  • Accurately and legibly complete all documentation associated with this role. Record, report and take action on any out of specification results.
  • Be responsible for the quality, safety and legality of all products leaving the section.
  • Control labour to ensure the numbers and skills are correct for the section, and for the product being manufactured.
  • Ensure all employees in the section are adhering to personal hygiene policies.
  • Monitor time-keeping and attendance of employees by verifying health declarations forms, and carrying out return to work interviews.
  • Read and understand cleaning procedures, communicate to team and verify that cleaning has been carried out to the required standard ensuring that all relevant documentation has been filled in.
  • Monitor and control the waste levels of the section.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills, with a “Can do” attitude.
  • Be involved in training & coaching employees and developing their skills alongside the Production Manager.
  • Be aware of the costs of materials and labour and the financial status of the section.
  • When necessary, provide cover in the absence of a Key-Operator in a different section.
  • Managing the skills within the team to ensure consistent cover within the section i.e. coverage for breaks.
